An educational Python prototype that reads public environmental data for a territory (GeoJSON) and shows deforestation, conservation units and priority areas, always with source and limitation.
Context
Public environmental data is hard to read for a first look at a territory, and easy to over-interpret.
Solution
The user picks a demo area or uploads a GeoJSON. The app computes the area, queries PRODES/INPE deforestation where coverage exists, checks overlap with ICMBio conservation units and priority areas, and produces a report with a SHA-256 checksum. It also states what the analysis does not answer.
What it shows
- States its own limits: no carbon estimate or eligibility, and the demo series is illustrative.
- Tests with pytest, linting with ruff and automated Playwright screenshots.
- Independent project, with no joint authorship with the institutions that inspired it.
